Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League home defeat of the year.

However the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters apparently booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with each other going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a early lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second period showing.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second goal was "completely preventable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He is a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on the team to remain increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and poise to overturn results. This match is a bad loss and it is hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them defended the net, my interest lit up somewhat.

"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager

While the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a shared team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a unique story, this game we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their lowest averages on file in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's accepted a high profile job at a huge football club with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
