The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

David Walliams

Best-selling young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, the company has said.

An official for the company commented: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was reached following an inquiry regarding reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The publisher has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, adding: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding more than 60 million copies internationally in 55 languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Some of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

His bibliography includes over four dozen titles altogether, including a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

His career breakthrough occurred on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
